Where Resilience Begins: An interactive Threat Modelling Workshop
Dr. Daniela Buchwald is a Test Manager at Ottobock, where she leads cross-site initiatives to strengthen product security and quality in medical devices. With a background in bioinformatics, a PhD in Neuroscience and extensive experience in software testing, she brings a multidisciplinary perspective to secure-by-design development.
Threat modelling is a critical part of developing resilient and secure medical devices, where increasingly connected ecosystems easily lead to cybersecurity and data privacy risks. This interactive session introduces practical threat modelling through a hands-on case study of a connected prosthetic device. Participants will learn the fundamentals of cybersecurity risk analysis, explore the role of threat modelling within the product development lifecycle, and apply structured methodologies to identify threats, evaluate risks and propose effective controls. This workshop places an emphasis on collaborative learning and security-by-design, empowering cross-functional teams to proactively identify risks and strengthen the cybersecurity posture of modern medical devices.
