João’s mission at Siemens Healthineers AG is to strengthen the resilience of medical devices through cyber incident analysis and digital forensics for enabling continuous improvement. Under his leadership, cybersecurity teams developed threat detection tools, responded to ransomware outbreaks, and investigated high-profile breaches. He strongly believes that cybersecurity challenges can only be effectively addressed through cooperation and knowledge sharing.

The term “cyber resilience” is widely used in media and professional discussions, but what does it mean in practice? This presentation offers the perspective of a Product Security Incident Response Team and explains how its work contributes to cyber resilience. It focuses on the investigation of incidents and threats affecting medical products and healthcare delivery organizations, and on how insights derived from such cases contribute to improving the cybersecurity of products, solutions, and processes, as well as the resilience of the broader healthcare ecosystem.
