I\u2019m a mechanical engineer who was born and raised in Costa Rica. After an exciting journey, I became an OT Cybersecurity Expert working at MSF Partners, a consultancy company based in Z\u00fcrich. My work focus is to protect critical infrastructure and industrial environments. In other words, I help energy and manufacturing organizations to strengthen their OT security. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I decided to move into cybersecurity, from mechanical engineering, after seeing how digitalization was transforming the industry. What excites me the most is the real\u2011world impact: in OT, security protects not just data but people, processes, and the continuity of essential services like energy and clean water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As an expat and a woman in cybersecurity, I joined CyberDefendHERs to help raise voices, in a discipline where diverse perspectives directly improve outcomes. Diversity doesn\u2019t just strengthen our teams\u2014it expands our field of view, enhances our coverage, and allows us to anticipate and address threats more effectively. When bringing more perspectives to the table, we build stronger, smarter, and more resilient cybersecurity defenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because defenses are a team activity. Threats move quickly; sharing accelerates collective resilience. In OT, where incidents can affect safety and production, knowledge\u2011sharing is not only optional, but a responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My advice for anyone considering exploring Cyber Defense is not to be discouraged by the technical aspects. The field is broad, multidisciplinary, and can be looked at through different perspectives. There is space for many types of expertise, and continuous learning is more important than knowing everything from the start. As a rapidly growing industry with strong longterm relevance, Cyber Defense offers meaningful opportunities for professionals from many backgrounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was inspired to pursue a career in cybersecurity by the critical role it plays in protecting the systems and infrastructures that societies rely on every day.
